Staying safe on the slopes

Ski patrol -henkilö keskustelee asiakkaan kanssa.

Keeping you safe is simply part of what we do at Tahko Mountain. Our crew takes care of the slopes, snow parks, and lifts every day so everything stays clean, safe, and secure. When everyone follows the basic mountain rules, the whole place runs better for all.

You’ll also spot our Ski Patrol out and about. They’re there to look after skiers, keep an eye on conditions, answer questions, and step in if someone needs help. With them on the mountain, you can relax and just enjoy your day.

Must know information for skiers

In case of an accident
  1. Contact the staff at the nearest lift base or top station, or call slope first aid at +358 44 496 0335

  2. Help the injured person if you know how

  3. Prevent any further accidents

Guide help to the scene

Our slope staff are trained in first aid and can transport injured skiers safely off the mountain.

Slope rules
  • Check that your equipment is in good condition and your bindings are properly adjusted. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended
  • Move through the lift queue in order and fill every chair or T-bar space. Get off only at marked exit points
  • Choose slopes that match your ability level. Always check special feature areas before riding them
  • Give others plenty of space when passing. Skiers coming from above or behind must always yield. Pay extra attention around small children
  • Stop only in places where others can clearly see you. Walking uphill on a slope is not allowed unless absolutely necessary, such as after a fall or to retrieve dropped equipment
  • Control your speed according to your skills. Be aware of local slope and snow conditions
  • Sledding is only allowed in designated areas
  • You ski at your own risk
  • Skiing under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited
  • Everyone has a duty to help if an accident happens. Report any incidents to staff immediately
  • Always follow signs and staff instructions. Staff have the right and responsibility to revoke the ski pass of anyone who does not follow slope rules
Other things to think about
  • Substances: Skiing or snowboarding under the influence is prohibited. Staff may revoke the ski pass of anyone who breaks the rules
  • Equipment: Lifts may only be used with skis or a snowboard
  • Walking: Walking on the slopes is not allowed. Use the marked routes (south/north) or drive up via Varpaisjärventie
  • Skinning: Allowed only in the marked forest area to the right of Hallelujah slope (no. 12). When descending, use only open slopes
  • Carrying children: Carrying a child in a backpack while skiing or riding lifts is prohibited. Children must use their own equipment
  • Pets: Pets are not allowed on the slopes. At lower lift stations they must be kept on a leash. Carrying pets on lifts or on the slopes is not allowed
  • Shelters: Open for everyone and cannot be reserved. Pude’s shelter is also suitable for walkers in winter; others are for skiers only. Leave shelters before the slopes close
  • Machines and maintenance: Give way to grooming machines and snowmobiles. Do not enter the slopes outside opening hours
  • Off-piste skiing: Not recommended for safety reasons. Accidents outside marked slopes are not covered by insurance
  • Drones: Flying drones is prohibited without permission from the resort operator
  • Slope first aid: The first-aid room is located at the bottom of Mini Mountain. In an emergency, call +358 44 496 0335
  • More information: See the safety guidelines and terms published by the Finnish Ski Area Association and the Consumer Agency at www.ski.fi/rinneturvallisuus

Do you have professional first-aid skills and want to put them on the mountain? We’d love to hear from you.
